Mir Bahay is situated in a secluded corner of a hill side. Built over three levels of lush green hills, keeping the natural terrain intact, with stunning views of snow-capped mountains.
The place offers a main bungalow and 2 independent cottages that have been outfitted with all the necessities and comforts of one’s home.
The main bungalow has the living room to relax, the library to stimulate the mind, the dining area to feed the hungry and a wooden deck to feed the soul. The deck is the perfect place to ground your body while your mind globe-trots. A natural fireplace in the main bungalow accentuates the natural warmth and earthiness of this perfect getaway.
The cottages are built a level or two below the main bungalow. Each cottage has a double bed with springy mattresses to bring out the child in you. Bathrooms are fitted with the essentials like a wash area, bath area and a geyser which ensure a steady flow of hot/cold water. A covered porch area wraps around the cottages and is the perfect spot to enjoy your morning tea/evening snacks while taking in the breathtaking view of the snow-capped mountains flanked by the luscious green hills.
Mir Bahay is all about connecting with nature, open spaces and getting away for the daily rut. We encourage our guests to spend as much time outside in the open and have carefully planned various places around the property for one to stretch out and relax. The compound has strategically located sit-outs and lounging areas to occupy during the day and The open compound surrounding the main bungalow offers watch towers for one to sit during the day overlooking the ranges, or the valley below and at night the billions of stars and constellations.
There is an open fire-pit area for enjoying the evenings around the fire.
The Mir Bahay kitchen offers home-cooked meals by Deepak, our caretaker. Mostly Indian cuisine is served, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. Being a local, Deepak is delighted to cook some local dishes from Kumaon. He can also serve up a few dishes from Chinese and Continental cuisines.
In true homestay style, all meals are served in the dining hall. Except tea & light snacks, no other meals are served in the cottages.
Breakfast options are generally – stuffed parathas, eggs, toast and cereals. Eggs can be prepared in different styles as per your liking. Deepak’s Gobhi (cauliflower) and Aloo (Potato) Parathas is a must have on any of the days during breakfast. South Indian options like Idli, Poha and upma are served too.
Lunch and Dinner is usually a full spread. For Indian cuisine you would be offered – Daal (Lentils); Vegetable (Dry and Gravy); Non-vegetarian dish (if you choose); Salad; Raita (Curd); Rotis and Rice and a sweet bite.
We use a lot of our own organically grown produce from the garden, it is as organic as it can get. Poultry, vegetable and dry grocery ingredients are procured one day prior to our guest’s arrival to ensure the freshest meals going out of our kitchen.
The deep freeze is well equipped with a large variety of ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook items, both savory and sweet, which can be ordered for. All are chargeable at a nominal price. A soft beverage is available on request and chargeable.
We do not serve ALCOHOL of any kind and would like to advise our guests that the local market offers limited choices.
